Biography 

Sujin Hong studied psychology and sociology (BA) at Yonsei University in Seoul, and studied music theory (MA) at Seoul National University, where she worked on emotional responses to music. After she joined the Neuroscience Research Institute at Gachon University in Medicine and Science in South Korea, she devoted herself to learning functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) on various topics such as vision, language, and music. Her PhD thesis (title: ‘Neural correlates of beat and metre perception: the role of inferior frontal gyrus, supervisors: Dr. Katie Overy and Prof. Neil Roberts) has been successfully ratified to be awarded at the University of Edinburgh, which investigated the neural correlates of musical timing using fMRI supported by Marie Curie Initial Training Network Fellowship, “Europe BRAin and MUSic (EBRAMUS, 2010-2013)”. Now she is working as a research fellow in the field of Neuropolitics at School of Social and Political Science and Edinburgh imaging of the University of Edinburgh.
