IMHSD alumnus Karen Ludke to give UCA Audio Research Cluster Seminar
On Tuesday 25th July 2023 from 3-4 pm (online), Dr Karen Ludke will be speaking to the Audio Research Cluster at the University of Creative Arts (UCA) on the topic of “Long Term Memory for Music, Songs and Language”. All are welcome!
The talk will summarise research about very long-term memory for songs, which integrate both music and language into a meaningful whole. Drawing on evidence from experimental studies as well as classroom-based research, Karen will provide some potential explanations for why song lyrics are capable of being retained and recalled weeks, months, or even decades later – long after other native and/or foreign language vocabulary and grammar may have been forgotten.
